Macalester is one of hundreds of colleges nation-wide which are hosting the fourth-annual Ted Mullen “Leave it in the Pool” Hour of Power Relay. Thousands of college and high school swummers will jump in the pool at the same time for an hour in the name of cancer research. The event is in honor of former Carleton College student and athlete Edward H. “Ted” Mullin, who passed away from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, in September 2006 at the age of 22.
The event is a one-hour, all-out, leave-it-in-the-pool practice that will occur simultaneously at numerous pools across the country and involve teams from NCAA Division I, II and III.
Joining the Scots in this event at the Riley Pool will be Hamline, St. Thomas, St. Catherine and Augsburg.
