DESCRIPTION:Ron Barrett (Anthropology) &amp\; Lene Pedersen (Central Washington U)\, will present &ldquo\;Before the Cremation: &nbsp\;Ethnography of Dying in Bali.'&nbsp\; This talk explores people&rsquo\;s approach to death in Bali\, renowned for the attention lavished on cremation ceremonies. There is a large ethnographic literature on Hindu-Balinese mortuary and post mortuary rites. &nbsp\;However\, no studies have been published on the human experiences of dying that lead up to these rites. &nbsp\;To what extent do these practices and their underlying beliefs serve to affirm or deny death for people facing the end of life?
