The mathematician/philosopher Gian-Carlo Rota once wrote: &ldquo\;I began to read the work of Edmund Husserl sometime in 1957. I began to understand him seven years later&hellip\;.&rdquo\;  \;But with much less time to spend\, what can we do to help our students respond to the challenges of reading well? In this session\, we will share our reflections on what has worked for us (and what hasn&rsquo\;t) in assisting students in an age of distraction to become more adept readers\, particularly of works marked by dense prose\, literary complexity\, or the challenges that can arise when working with translations or with texts in a foreign language. \; All faculty welcome. \; Lunch will be provided.
