The Lealtad-Suzuki Center's SPEAK! Series presents "Well Red: Native American Playwrights & New Native Theater," featuring award-winning playwrights Rhiana Yazzie and Drew Hayden Taylor at 5 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, in Kagin Commons, Alexander G. Hill Ballroom.
Rhiana Yazzie is a Navajo playwright based in Minneapolis and is the author of audio theater, articles, plays for young audiences, and other dramatic media. Drew Hayden Taylor is an Anishnaawbe playwright from Central Ontario, Canada, who has traveled the world and written about it from an aboriginal perspective.
This event is sponsored by the Lealtad-Suzuki Center, PIPE, Theatre and Dance, English, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, and History. The purpose of SPEAK! A Series of Conscious Conversations, is to engage the Macalester community in a series of intimate and ongoing conversations with dynamic speakers on relevant transnational issues where speakers talk with, rather than to, the audience.
