MacConnect Los Angeles - Alumni Gathering & Networking Event
- 12:00 PM
Saturday Mar 17, 2018
737 Hawaii Street
El Segundo, CA 90245
Online registration for the event is now closed. If you have not yet registered and wish to attend, you may do so at the venue beginning at 10:00am on Saturday.
Our College, Jobs and Careers conversation, featuring new Macalester Dean of Career Development Mindy Deardufff and 10 visiting MacConnect juniors and seniors has been moved to a better space in one of the most progressive independent high schools in LA County, the Vistamar School. Vistamar is 2 minutes off the 405, just south of the 105.
Off-street parking and a continental breakfast will be FREE. Yes. . .you read that correctly, FREE parking in Los Angeles. Only through the power of Macalester.
Plus, we moved it 30 minutes later (10 a.m. start) just in case you're out late Friday night.
This program is designed for all alumni from the classes of 1947 to 2017; you should feel free to bring a friend, even if they didn't attend Mac.
You will have plenty of time to socialize and network with your fellow Los Angeles alumni and an amazing cohort from the college. Mindy Deardurff, who is leading a radical redesign of our Career Development Center (CDC), will present an overview of new career programs on- and off-campus. Following Mindy, students and Mac English professor Peter Bognanni '00 (whose second novel was just published and whose first novel comes out in a movie version in April) will offer some reflection on their three-day dive into Los Angeles and the worlds of film, television, publishing, and multi-platform communication.
Throughout the event, Mindy and the students (and your fellow alumni) will want to hear your observations on life in LA and on your career and work experiences.
MacConnect helps students explore a multitude of career options, and demystifies what alumni "do" with their degrees. We hope you will join us for community, conversation, and networking.
This event is for: Alumni, Students and Faculty
