Macalester College is the host site for the 2017 Be Heard MN Youth Poetry Slam Series: Semi-Final Bout 1.  

The Be Heard MN Youth Poetry Slam Series is an annual competition that seeks to identify a cohort of six poets, residing in Minnesota, between the ages of 13-19 to be mentored in writing, performance and arts leadership throughout the year and serve as state representatives in the annual international Brave New Voices youth poetry slam festival.

This event is a signature program of TruArtSpeaks, a non-profit arts organization in the Twin Cities whose work focuses on the importance of supporting, encouraging, developing, and creating spaces for youth and community voice while utilizing elements of Hip Hop and Spoken Word culture.
