Chopin Society presents pianist Lukáš Vondráček

3:00 PM  - 4:30 PM
Sunday Oct 5, 2014
Mairs Concert Hall, Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, Music Building

Following early training in his hometown of Ostrava in the Czech Republic and in Vienna, Lukáš Vondráček moved to the U.S. and earned his Artist Diploma with Honors from Boston’s New England Conservatory. Among his awards are First Prizes at the 2010 Hilton Head and 2012 UNISA (South Africa) international piano competitions. He gave his UK recital debut at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of London's International Piano Series, becoming the youngest pianist to have featured in that series. In the years since, he has performed with a long list of world-renowned orchestras and conductors, such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, with whom he toured in Europe and the U.S. His recent CDs include one of Haydn, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev (TwoPianists Records) and another of Brahms (ORF), released in 2014. Lukáš’ last-minute call as a replacement on the Chopin Society’s 2012-13 season was received with great enthusiasm and calls for his re-invitation.
