"EXCAVATING JERUSALEM: BETWEEN THE TEMPLE MOUNT AND THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE"
Dr. Gideon Avni is the Chief Archaeologist of the Israel Antiquities Authority and for over 20 years has been in charge of Jerusalem and overseeing the holy sites.He has directed numerous excavations in Israel, has published numerous monographs and scholarly articles, and is an expert on the transition from the Byzantine to the Islamic period in the MIddle East. He recently published book is entitled; The Byzantine-Islamic Transition in Palestine, (Oxford University Press; 2014).
