Strivers Row Spoken Word Performance

Starts 7:00 PM
Tuesday Feb 18, 2014
John B. Davis Lecture Hall (JBD), Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center

The Strivers Row artists are a performance collective born from the collision of passion and page. Assembled in the fall of 2010, the troupe has performed on stages ranging from the NAACP Image Awards to Broadway's Amsterdam theater, from The Sundance Film Festival to President Obama's Evening of Music and Poetry at the White House.

Individually, they have performed on four continents, and as a collective, they have sold out a three day tour in the UK. Individual television/film appearances include HBO's Brave New Voices, Seasons 1 and 2 of Verses and Flow, ESPN's 30 for 30, NAACP Image Awards and the critically acclaimed film, Gun Hill Road.

Beyond the stage, The Strivers Row poets are rigorous students (two are PhD candidates, and four as undergrads at some of the nations top colleges and universities) and also teaching artists.
