Conversations About Our Scholarly Lives

12:00 PM  - 1:00 PM
Monday Nov 25, 2013
Jan Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching (Room 338), DeWitt Wallace Library

Lori Ziegelmeier, Math, Statistics and Computer Science, will present “Digital Images:  They're not just for viewing." We all take digital images, so why not analyze them? Examples of geometric data analysis can be illustrated in the context of digital photographs. Here Ziegelmeier will provide an introduction to images as mathematical objects that can be manipulated and investigated using techniques related to data compression, pattern recognition, and clustering. All faculty are welcome. Lunch will be served.
