The Struggle for LGBT Rights in Uganda: an Inside Perspective

The Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, Department of Multicultural Life, and the Institute for Global Citizenship are co-sponsoring to bring Mark Kiyimba, a Unitarian Universalist (UU) pastor based in Uganda, to speak about the struggle for LGBT rights in Uganda. An outspoken faith ally for LGBT persons in Uganda, Mark works as an advocate for greater understanding toward LGBT civil rights issues in Kampala.

This talk will focus on explicating the current social situation in Uganda in regards to the fight for LGBT rights. Mark will touch on the influence of American evangelicals on the climate of fear and the work of LGBT activists and Allies to create hope and work for justice in Uganda.

Refreshments will be served from 11:30am-12noon in the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life (Chapel basement). The talk and discussion will take place from 12noon-1pm in the Chapel.
