Talking About Teaching

12:00 PM  - 1:00 PM
Friday Sep 13, 2013
Jan Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching (Room 338), DeWitt Wallace Library

Roopali Phadke, Environmental Studies, will present  “Teaching Hope.”   All of our teaching rests on a hope that the future will be better than today. Yet, how do we design our classroom spaces and assignments to instill this vague value. The field of Environmental Studies is particularly ridden with doom and gloom, often leaving instructors (and students) struggling to find chances for constructive, spirit-lifting assignments and interventions. Using her Sustainable Development course assignments as examples, Roopali will discuss how we may consider teaching hope.  All faculty are welcome.  Lunch will be provided.
