The American Studies Department invites you to our American Studies Colloquium.  Rokhaya Dieng from Macalester College will present, "The American Dream and Moral Values in Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Theodore Dreiser's An American Tragedy." In this presentation Dieng will explain what the American Dream is in general, and then what it represents in the two novels she chose to study.  Dieng will describe what the concept of moral values is for Fitzgerald and Dreiser.  To conclude we will discuss whether or not the two terms "American Dream" and Moral Values," can co-exist.  In other words is it possible to achieve our "American Dream" if we forget about our Moral Values?
