Voices, Awaken! A Building Dignity Spoken Word Fundraiser

7:00 PM  - 8:30 PM
Sunday Apr 29, 2012
Weyerhauser Board Room, Weyerhaeuser Hall

Amid the deserts of Lima lies the shantytown Lomo de Corvina, home to 50,000 impoverished Peruvians—and the Center for Development with Dignity, the community’s home for leadership training, neighborhood activists, and Building Dignity. Building Dignity, a nonprofit based in the Twin Cities and Lima, works with youth and adult leaders to expand leadership and community development opportunities through reciprocal partnership and empowerment.

Join Building Dignity on Sunday, April 29th for a spoken word benefit and educational presentation featuring National Poetry Slam champion Shane Hawley, internationally-ranked poet Kait Rokowski, MacSlams poet Niko Martell, and hosts Paul Dosh and Naomi Sussman, as we work to empower and broadcast the voices of a new generation of community leaders. Desserts and poetry books available for purchase.
