Dr. H. Birali Runesha, Director of Research Computing at the University of Chicago

This talk will provide an insightful review of the paradigm shift of computer technology and discuss current trends and challenges impacting research computing. Dr. Runesha will present various research results that he conducted in the past twenty years and will also discuss his journey since leaving Africa until today and what have been the lessons learned.
Dr. Hakizumwami Birali Runesha is the Director of Research Computing at the University of Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University and has more than 18 years of experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) and scientific software development. Prior to joining the University of Chicago, he served for 13 years as Director of Scientific Computing and Applications at the University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute.
