2011 Fall Film Series, Part 6 of 6: Citizen Ruth
- 10:00 PM
Thursday Nov 3, 2011
John B. Davis Auditorium, Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center
Film critic and Macalester alumnus Colin Covert '74, continues his review of the greatest films you've never heard of with the 2011 Alumni Fall Film Series "Hidden Gems and Surprises, Part 3." The sixth and final film of the series, Citizen Ruth, takes turns satirizing both sides of the abortion issue equally. Ruth Stoops (Laura Dern) is an irresponsible, unemployed, drug-addicted pregnant woman who finds herself in the middle of a tug-of-war with pro-life and pro-choice activist groups. She soon realizes that although both groups claim to want to help and protect her, they each plan to use her to promote their own agenda to the media. Upon realizing this, Ruth decides that she will align herself with whichever group can provide her with the best deal. Watch Trailer
