Join Macalester alumni and students in New Orleans

6:00 PM  - 9:00 PM
Monday Jan 17, 2011
Maison du Parc, 2203 Napoleon Avenue, New Orleans

This January, Macalester students and staff members representing the Bonner Community Scholars and the Community and Cultural Survival Seminar will be in the New Orleans metropolitan area for a week of service and learning. While there, they invite you to join them for dinner and conversation at their "home" for the week - the beautifully restored, historic Maison du Parc. The event will be a great opportunity to welcome current students to your city, visit with your fellow NOLA alums and even meet some prospective Mac students

If you plan to attend, please register online here. This event is free.

Over the course of the trip, students in the Bonner program will have the opportunity to learn about issues of social concern through service projects established with multiple partnerships across the New Orleans metropolitan area. Students will also reflect on civic engagement, social change and community resiliency through discussion and readings. Students enrolled in Community & Cultural Survival will complete an intensive, community-based seminar.  While in New Orleans, these students will engage with community partners, scholars and activists to learn more about resistance in the context of natural disaster and economic adversity. The programs will be led by staff from Macalester’s Civic Engagement Center, the Department of Hispanic Studies, and the Department of Multicultural Life.
