John B. Davis Lecture Hall (JBD), Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center
Join us for the 2010 Fall Alumni Film Series named "Global Justice" happening 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 22-Nov. 10. In the fifth film of the series, In the Name of the Father, Daniel Day-Lewis stars as Gerry Conlon, an Irish citizen wrongly convicted of taking part in an IRA bombing. After an intense interrogation, he was forced to sign a confession and sentenced to prison. In addition to the personal torment Conlon endured, his family suffered greatly, including his father who was later convicted of being an accomplice and also sentenced to prison.
Global Justice participants will see eight films selected by Star Tribune critic Colin Covert '74 that take an international look at how films depict justice in various cultures, environments, and political frameworks. The films for the series include: The Bicycle Thief (9/22), The Verdict (9/29), Incident at Oglala (10/6), The Castle (10/13), In the Name of the Father (10/20), Midnight Express (10/27), Crimes and Misdemeanors (11/3), The Postman Always Rings Twice (11/10).
The registration fee for the film series is $40 per person for the entire series or $5 per person for each film. Register online here.
