Thursday Jul 15, 2010
Millennium Park, Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Chicago
End time is approximate

Enjoy a concert by Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Contonou and La 33 in Millennium Park with Chigao-area alumni and friends. The Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Contonou’s psychedelic guitar grooves and funky organ sounds journey from Benin to the Millennium Park stage for their Chicago debut on their first U.S. tour. Their inimitably vintage sound is gaining much international acclaim, and igniting dance floors all over the globe. Opening the night are the irresistible new-wave salsa sounds of Colombia’s La 33 with their premiere Chicago performance.

The Macalester group will meet around 5:45pm in the middle of the grassy area of the park marked with a Macalester sign. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a blanket, and snacks and beverages you'd like to eat and/or share.  In case of rain, meet up for an impromptu happy hour at: Elephant and Castle Pub & Restaurant, 185 N. Wabash Ave. Email Susan Perry '83 to let her know you're planning to attend.
