Mark Davis will present a brief overview of the NEW BIOLOGY that is emerging in the 21st century, as described in a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences, and how the Macalester Biology Department is well situated to prepare students for this new biology.  Prospective majors are being invited to this event, but I believe all current majors would be interested to learn more about the way the field of biology is changing and the sort of background and perspectives biologists will need to have in order to succeed and excel in the biology of the 21st century.  A pizza lunch will be provided.
