Value Realism and Moral Constructivism

4:30 PM  - 6:00 PM
Thursday Nov 5, 2009
Carnegie Hall 006

Part of the 2009-2010 Philosophy Colloquium Series, presented by Professor Henry West.

Moral Realism is false. Right and Wrong, Just and Unjust, what is Morally Obligatory and what is Morally Permissible, do not exist in Nature. But Value Realism is true. Pleasure and pain are naturally and intrinsically good and bad. On that basis-hedonism-morality is to be constructed, just as laws are to be constructed, by what moral rights, rules, and virtues, when recognized, have best consequences.

There will be light refreshments served. Everyone is welcome!
